An email note from Paul Robins
(December 21, 2007)

I'm sorry this isn't a more personal note! But I wanted everybody who took the time to write to know how much I appreciate the kindness I've been shown today and all through my years at Y92. There has been a very flattering flood of e-mail that started pouring in before the show even started this morning. I emptied the "sent" box and the "deleted" box and the thing still ran out of room to hold ‘em all.

Some e-mails have made me laugh, some have leaned a little more toward grief stricken. Many were from long-time friends whose names I recognize right away, and a wonderful number came from people who had never called in or e-mailed, but have been there listening all along.

Whichever group you're in, thank you so much. I have a long history of being a "glass half full" kind of guy, and I've been quite successful today at focusing on all the reasons I have to celebrate. To have had a job that has been so incredibly fun for twenty years, to cover the mortgage and pay for braces while sitting in a comfy studio and talking with my friends-- there's just no room for complaining.

I had a very rare opportunity at the end of today's show. Most people in my career field never have a chance to say "Thank you and good-bye." In this industry I'm afraid folks generally just disappear without warning or explanation. I bet I pop up somewhere sooner or later. To be honest, I'll be disappointed if a job turns up too soon-- I have twenty years worth of sleep to catch up on! I'm taking off the day after Christmas to chase my wife around Australia and might just take my time coming home. Have a splendid Christmas and New Year. I will always be thankful for my years at Y92 and the extraordinary people who listened along the way.
