The Cabin's Floor Plan

It's about 1200 square feet (1st floor only), but there is also a full basement that is used for food and other storage. The fireplace in the living room is a high-efficiency (92%) wood burner, so there is minimal visible smoke from the chimney, an important consideration in the aftermath of "Digital Choke".

All the windows have heavy window coverings, so there is no light visible through the windows when the drapes are closed. I need that to keep a low profile. But I don't use much electric light anyhow, because of the erratic power availability. I use oil lamps for lighting when needed. And I don't really stay up that late, since I am quite busy doing things to stay alive. I can't just run to the grocery store anymore.

Water to the cabin is from a gravity-fed spring, with underground piping, supplemented by a well. Water is stored in large barrels in the basement, and I have a hand-operated pump in the sink. Wastewater goes to a septic tank system.

There is also a garage, with a one-room living area. I don't use that much now, but it was useful during the construction of the cabin.
